We women hit a certain age and we automatically think negative thoughts and ask negative questions. We find ourselves wondering, “Is this it? Is this what our life has come to? Will it get any better?”
Well, ladies, we shouldn’t let those thoughts creep upon us. We shouldn’t be overanalyzing and overthinking our lives. We shouldn’t be getting sad and angry about our age, wondering how things could have been different.
I’m naming all the things we shouldn’t do, but what about the things we should do? A little nudge in the right direction never hurt anyone, right?
Confronting our fears of aging can help settle our minds. We can dig deep to the root of the problem, iron out the details, turn all the negatives into positives, and move forward with our lives. We shouldn’t get too worried about how much time we have left on this earth, because guess what? The answer lies within the worry - we don’t know how much time we have left! So, we should take advantage of the experiences we are yet to enjoy. Live your best life with the time you’re given.
Instead of narrowing in on the age limitations we have, we should dive into our talents. What are we capable of? What do we excel in? Embrace those aspects of life and celebrate them. Don’t ask negative questions and don’t think about “what you’ve lost.”
There’s no time to sit around waiting to age. If you don’t use it, you lose it. So, get up and do whatever it is you love. Accelerate in your successes. Stay on the fitness track if you already have a schedule. If not, figure out what you might enjoy, try different activities like dancing, pilates, or hiking. Keep your mind sharp at work if you’ve always learned new policies, procedures, and techniques.
The next question I ask is, how do we continue to do the things we should?
How do we confront our fears? How do we focus on what we’re good at and embrace those talents? How do we get up and get moving? Without any negativity floating in the back of our brains.
What makes you happy? For me, it’s getting away from the weekend camping, exploring, and unplugging from the world. I also enjoy making women feel beautiful about themselves because every woman on this planet is beautiful in their own unique way.
What do you love to do? It could be anything from cooking to baking, country line dancing to singing. It could be anything from shopping to working out at the gym. Whatever it is, do it. Don’t stop because you’re climbing up the age ladder; life isn’t fun if you’re not doing the things you love.
Easier said than done, right? Wrong!
Do whatever it is you need to do to regain your confidence. Go get a Mani/Pedi. Go lay on a massage table and feel good about yourself. Book a vacation. Do something to work on your health, Get a new wardrobe. Start wearing more makeup. Start wearing less makeup. Change your hairstyle.
You’re the only one that can regain your confidence - and you’re the only one that knows how to. Pick something that makes you feel good and go with it. For me, I enjoy a day of pampering whether it be a Mani/Pedi, massage, or spa service of some kind. Anything to let me relax, unwind and re-center and refocus my heart and mind. For you, it may be completely different. Just make sure it sparks confidence.
Our emotions are so very important. Without stability, we can easily start to get down and depressed about our current age.
So, what can we do about it? Well, whatever it is that helps us live a more happy and balanced life. We need to be fearless and not think about the things that we can’t do anymore; we have to think about the things that we can do.
If we need a little nudge in the right direction, that’s not a bad thing. Go to therapy. Start meditating. Read a good self-help book. Write in a journal. Take care of yourself first and you’ll live life much happier.
Feeling good in the skin that you’re in is so crucial. When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Are you happy with your reflection?
If the answer is no, go make some changes girl! Remember, being fearless means you need to embrace everything that you are and scream it from the rooftops. If you’re not comfortable in the skin that you’re in, go stock up on some age revitalizing lotions. Go get your tan on. Go for a run every few days or do something to get your endorphins up. Make some changes, small changes every day add up.
The goal is to get confident in the skin you’re in and to truly be happy about the person you are and the body that you have. And when you do, it’s life-changing.
Do all of this, and you’ll be living your fearless over 40 lifestyles in no time!
