Body Love: Latoya W.

Body Love: Latoya W.

The Body Love Portrait Experience helps women reconnect with their feminine side, embracing the uniqueness of their personalities and their bodies every step of the way.

When she was younger, Latoya didn’t have many influences teaching her how beautiful her body was. Instead, she took a deep dive into the sports world, getting things done left and right.

As she grew and matured, she began to see her body as more than just a vessel. It had become so beautiful, it was as if she blinked and immediately started admiring it.

Check out how that process went below, and adopt a tip or two from her along the way.

Maggie: Before heading in to get ready for our photoshoot, I like to ask a few questions about body positivity and where you stand. The conversations can range, so just go with the flow and let me know what you’re thinking.

The way I open most of my sessions is by asking my clients what they remember learning about loving and accepting their bodies at a young age. So, Latoya, what do you remember learning?

Latoya W: To be honest, there wasn’t much body positivity in my youth. I was always involved in sports, so for the most part, I just saw my body as a tool to get things done.

M: I see, so in your youth, you were prioritizing sports and giving your all to whatever activity you were involved in. That in itself is positive. Since that point in your life, have you transitioned your thought process? Do you now have a new definition of what it means to you to feel beautiful in your own skin?

L: To this day I still compete in sports. For example, with fighting, I always have to trim back. Right after a fight, I gain the weight back. With that, I’ve learned that regardless of the size of my body, I am beautiful.

M: That transition is great. As a child, you saw your body as a tool and now you’re realizing that it’s beautiful no matter what. For some, it’s hard to get through that transition and to see that beauty. Do you have any words of wisdom for other women going through that struggle?

L: I would say believe that your body is a force, regardless of size. Love it with all you’ve got because it’s been there for you and has given you the privilege to accomplish so much in life.

M: That was such a powerful statement; I couldn’t have said it better myself. Can you tell us a little bit about what makes you so uniquely powerful and independent? You must be proud of the woman you are today.

L: I most definitely am. Honestly, I believe that anything is possible if you want it enough and put in the appropriate work to get there. There’s really nothing you can’t do once you put your mind to it.

M: Thank you for that. Ok, before we go on and get your hair and makeup going, I have one final question for you. What are some tips you can give readers? Tips that you may do daily to make yourself feel beautiful, to embrace the body you do have?

L: I have three solid tips that I live by. First, I make sure that I start every morning by looking in the mirror and saying the following words: “Hello Beautiful.”

I also work out daily to remind myself how strong I am. And I can’t forget about my daily reminders, making sure I’m not going too hard on myself mentally or physically.

Latoya W. was so much fun to work with! Though she was a tad nervous in the beginning to open up and get pampered, her session turned out great and her images are just stunning. Plus, she is giving readers solid advice - and me, too!

All I know is that I’ll definitely be saying “Hello Beautiful” tomorrow morning in the mirror, and I’ll try my best to be active and go easy on myself. Let’s do it together, ladies! Are you ready to adopt some of Latoya’s tips and tricks? I sure am.

The Body Love Portrait Experience was designed to help women reconnect with their feminine side, embracing the uniqueness of their personalities and their bodies every step of the way. You see, oftentimes, we as women tend to criticize ourselves and the bodies we have. Society and the media has taught us to do so, to be ashamed if we have even an ounce of fat present.

It’s time to change that. It’s time to change how we feel about ourselves and our bodies. This Body Love Portrait Experience was designed to help women love who {and what} they see when they look in the mirror.

It’s time to get rid of the shame and be proud of who we are! After all, it’s true that when women feel confident, strong, and beautiful, they are 100% unstoppable.

Together, it’s time for us to stand together and rise in confidence, one Intimate Portrait Session at a time.
